Shelter is the first thread created by Jared Flood for Brooklyn Tweed. American Targhee-Columbia wool shines in this versatile 2-ply worsted-weight yarn. Brooklyn Tweed Shelter is woolen spun, meaning the fibers remain in a lofty jumble that traps air and offers remarkable warmth and lightness. Shelter is an ideal yarn for knitting sweaters of every variety, winter accessories, and blankets.

Note: Shelter is fleeced-dyed : The dyeing is carried out on the raw fiber after washing, without adding chemicals. The different plains are then brewed during carding in order to obtain the mottled hues that characterize Shelter.

Description

Shelter is a high quality yarn. Its rustic feel and the irregularity of the thread are an integral part of its nature. Once knit, Shelter achieves its full beauty after a wet blocking, as each stitch relaxes and bonds with its neighbours to produce a plush fabric with a halo.
Brooklyn Tweed recommends alternating skeins while knitting to blend the color evenly.

As a result of its woolen-spun manufacturing process, Shelter is suitable for a wonderful range of gauges:

  • 5 stitches to 1″  |  Suggested Needle: 4½ mm (US 7)
  • 4½ stitches to 1″  |  Suggested Needle: 5 mm (US 8)
  • 4¼ stitches to 1″  |  Suggested Needle: 5½ mm (US 9
